Terrain

We walk a lot of meadow paths along the river and a stretch of road with no footpath care to be taken. Also we descend down approx. 139 steps also could be some very wet areas. Near the end of the walk we have a steep bank to climb if wet, could be very slippy. Then a steady climb up a field back to the start. May check if I can find alternative route back instead of the steep bank.

Points of interest

Hurst Green is a charming village with three welcoming hostelries and famous for Stonyhurst College a magnificent building. Beautiful and serene sections of the rivers Hodder, Ribble, and the majestic curves of Cromwell’s Bridge, add to what is a splendid walk, voted as the nation’s number 6 walk by The Times in 2003.
