Otterspool and Sefton Park
Meeting at either Parbold Shops at 9am for those going on the Train, Ormskirk Station at 9.30am or those by car at St Michaels Station at 10.20am (Postcode L17 7BQ)
Directions for those going by Car to St Michael's: You may all know the route but Lady Ann has advised of the following route. Take the M57 from Switch Island and continue on to the A5300 signed to Widnes, Stay on the A5300 to the end. Take a right turn at the roundabout signed A562/A561 and you are to take the A561 ( Speke Boulevard) passing Jaguar motor works. Continue on the A561 until you see St Charles Church which is on the left and then you take the 2nd left on to St Michaels Road, follow the road round to the right, then take the 3rd road on the right (Melly Road) then left at the T junction and St Michael's Station will be on the right.

The Walk. This is a 5 mile leisurely walk, but we have some roads to cross and care to be taken, We stroll through Sefton Park and we will call at the famous Palm House, then head out of the park through some streets with Resplendent Victorian homes, a large number fallen in to decay though the buildings we pass remain in good order making this walk a real joy. Then we reach Otterspool Park and head along a pleasant pathway to the River Mersey, once on the promenade after approx. 1 mile we veer off to the Festival Gardens, Its at this precious spot that the first sign of Liverpool's regeneration got under way after the Toxteth riots in 1981. Nothing much left of it now a great deal of the area has been taken over for housing development. We then leave the gardens and head to our start point.

Special Notes - a few of us on the walk are planning on going for a meal to Lark Lane, we have been asked to provide our menu choice a few days in advance, so if anyone is interested can we please have your menu choices at the meeting, those not going on the lunch we will have a coffee break in either Lark Lane or Sefton Park and we plan to finish the walk at 1.30 those on the lunch are booked in for 1.45 and those not going for lunch can eat at their leisure
