Parbold Ramblers - walk
Sunday June 4th 2017
Beeston Castle and Shropshire Union Canal . 6½ miles. difficulty C – Almost all flat and easy going. Accessible to all.
A 6 ½ mile walk through pasture land and woodland paths, generally flat with a gentle climb to sandstone ridge. For most of the walk there are striking views of medieval Beeston Castle and the Victorian era Peckforton Castle.
Meet Parbold shops at 9.00. Walk to start at about 10 15, from Beeston Castle Car Park. Fee £3 .00 payable at the castle Shop.
Directions
Take the M6 south to junction 20a, then M56 West S/P North Wales.
At 3.7 miles (Junction 10) take the A49 S/P Warrington and Whitchurch. Follow sign to Whitchchurch.
Stay on the A49 for 16.4 miles then turn right onto Dean Bank (S/P Beeston Castle and Peckforton Castle). At 1.1 mile a right onto Tattenhall Lane then a right onto Chapel Lane following signs for Beeston Castle. The car park is on the right opposite the entrance to the castle grounds. (Post code CW6 9TX.). Car park fee £3. .
Toilets
Go through the Gift Shop, toilets on the right in 20 yards. There are no other toilets on the walk. At lunch stop we will be in woodland!!
Food and Drink
Bring sandwiches and drink; we will have a coffee stop after about an hour, with a lunch stop an hour and half later.
Hazards.
We will be following paths through pastures and grazing cattle. Just be aware, they were no problems on the recce.

Although we plan our walking programme well in advance it may be that it has to be changed at short notice due to adverse weather conditions or unsuitable terrain. Members are informed of any changes at the meeting prior to the scheduled walk.
All walks meet at Parbold shops at 9.00a.m. for Car Share, unless otherwise stated. If you need a lift, it is advisable to contact Jimmy Kelly 01257 463057 or the walk leader before the day, so that we can ensure availability.
This is the responsibility of the individual and lifts cannot be guaranteed if contact is not made prior to the walk day.
