The Walk

We start the walk at the Yarrow Valley Country Park between Coppell & Chorley. The walk takes us along the river Yarrow for a short distance, then over fields that lead us to Astley Park. We go through the park leaving through the memorial arch. We pass through Chorley onto the Leeds & Liverpool Canal going in the Leeds direction. After a while we pass by Fredericks Ice Cream parlour. Following suitable refreshment we continue on to Duxbury Park which leads back to the river Yarrow which we follow through a lovely wooded area back to the Valley Park. There is a small incline at the start but after that the walk is quite flat & easy.

Toilets

Safety.

Most of the paths & tracks are in good condition but the first mile involves some very muddy & slippy sections so great care is needed & a walking pole would be useful. After that the going is pretty good despite the recent wet weather. Make sure you have warm & waterproof clothing with you & suitable footwear is essential.
