WEST LANCASHIRE RESIDENTS ENCOURAGED TO COME AND MEET THE POD

NHS WEST Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is holding an open day for residents to learn all about the new method of prescribing available to them.

The CCG is holding an open day in Tarleton on Tuesday 22 May 2018, at Tarleton Group Practice, The Health Centre, Gorse Lane, Tarleton, PR4 6UJ from 11am to 3pm, where members of the public can come and meet the team, learn all about the POD and how it will benefit patients in West Lancashire.

Originally launched as a pilot in Skelmersdale in 2017, the Prescription Ordering Direct service (POD), is a prescribing hub which is based within GP practices, with skilled healthcare professionals, who are qualified to deal with prescriptions and offer medications advice.

With the POD growing from strength to strength, with the addition of a new surgery recently joining in Burscough, to compliment the existing POD which is based at Skelmersdale Family Practice and further expansion due in 2018 at Manor Primary Care in Skelmersdale, Stanley Court in Burscough and Tarleton Group Practice, the CCG has organised an open day to enable residents to learn all about this new way of managing their prescriptions.

The CCG is keen to get the views of users of the POD and they have created a feedback survey, which is available online at http://bit.ly/CCGPOD (paper versions are also available upon request and from the POD open day).

Any resident who may have questions about the POD can contact the CCG on 01695 588 403 or email laura.anton@nhs.net.
