Parbold Ramblers Walk

Abbeystead

Sunday 3rd June 2018

LEADERS. Anne and John Corcoran. Tel. 01772 865951 (home) 07731870 207 (Mobile)

PARKING. At the road junction on the east side of Stoops Bridge, Abbeystead (LA2 9BQ). Drive through tall gateposts and park on the riverside verge. There are no toilets.

WALK. The walk will start at 10.15 a.m. and is 7 miles. We have rated it difficult because there are about 20 ladder stiles and three wall stiles not all in good condition. There are a couple of stretches of the walk which are difficult and towards the end of the walk we have to climb some rickety steep steps.

Having highlighted the difficulties, the rest of the walk is easy walking. It may be muddy in places so walking boots and walking poles are recommended. It is up to each individual to take responsibility for his or her own safety.

DIRECTIONS. Leave Parbold at 9 a.m. and go North on the M6. At junction 33 take the A6 exit to Lancaster South. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A6 Preston Lancaster Road. Then turn left onto Hampson Lane. Turn right onto Stoney Lane. Continue onto the Chipping Road then turn left onto Anyon Lane. Turn left onto Pennine View then right onto Star Bank Lane. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Abbeystead Road and continue on Abbeystead Lane. In Abbeystead, cross Stoops Bridge and park on the rivererside verge.

Please note All walks meet at Parbold shops at 9.00a.m. for Car Share, unless otherwise stated. If you need a lift, it is advisable to contact Jimmy Kelly or the walk leader before the day, so that we can ensure availability.
