Parbold and District Ramblers

September 2nd 2018. Stainforth force , Catrigg Force and Feizor Walk 8 miles

Meet at RED LION 8.30am. (There is a festival on in Parbold). The journey takes 1 hr 20 mins. Walk starts at 10 15am at the latest.

This is Harry’s favourite walk so draw your own conclusions!

The Walk

This is a lovely walk with panoramic views across the Yorkshire Dales. The walk is in two sections. The first part begins with a half hour steady incline and then easy walking to Feizor. You can see Penyghent, and on a really good day you can see Morecambe bay. There is a small café at Feizor which is very busy on a Sunday and we don’t want to spend more than half an hour there .Part of the walk crosses the Peninne way. Lunch will be beside the Ribble about 1pm.

The second part of the walk also starts with a half hour steep incline (surprise surprise) however you are rewarded by a short downhill path to Catrigg Force and a spectacular waterfall. Force is a Yorkshire word for waterfall and comes from the Norse ‘foss’. There are once again great views and the walk concludes by walking back at the side of the Ribble. This is a longish walk but worth it. The walk should finish about 5pm.

There is a pub called the Craven Heiffer in Stainforth for Apres walk.
