Newburgh Fair Wonders

Wonders of the World will come to the streets of Newburgh when the village stages its 42nd Annual Fair on Saturday 22 June. Children’s visions of the Pyramids, the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China and ancient monuments of Greece and Rome will feature on the floats which go in procession around the village beginning at 12pm.

“We really wanted to excite our children’s imaginations so have chosen this international theme”, said Fiona Casey, chair of the Newburgh Fair Association.

The Fair procession will be led by the talented Red Admiral Music Academy and will visit all parts of the village before arriving at the Newburgh School Field for the crowning of the Rose Queen.

“We’ve then arranged a fun afternoon with a craft show, karate and gymnastics demonstrations, and both Morris and Indian dancing,” said Fiona. “We’re repeating the circus skills workshops which were so popular last year with children and adults. And all will be rounded off with an invitation to the village dogs to come and wag their tails and a community tug of war”.

Sun 16 June 10.30am Community Celebration Service followed by Village Picnic

Tues 18 June 7.30pm Douglas Valley Lions Bingo Night

Wed 19 June 7.30pm Folk Night with Merry Hell
