Parbold and District Ramblers - Walk

Bleasdale

6 ½ mile Moderate Circular Walk

Sunday 5 March 2023

LEADERS.  Anne and John Corcoran. Tel. 01772 865951 (home) 07731 870 207 (Mobile)

WALK. The walk will start at 10 a.m. from Delph Lane Quarry. The postcode is PR3 1UN and map reference SD5458 4552. The Quarry will hold about 6 cars but there is suitable roadside parking along Delph Lane where the road widens. Directions to Delph Quarry are shown below.

This is a good winter walk mainly around Bleasdale Estate which concentrates on farming and shooting. It is along roads, fields, private roads/public footpaths and tracks which can be wet and muddy in places so walking boots  are recommended. There are great views (when the weather is good) of the surrounding fells behind Bleasdale incuding Hazelhurst, Fairsnape and Parlick.

There is a toilet about 2 hours into the walk at Bleasdale Church but not much cover for other toilet breaks.

DIRECTIONS. Leave Parbold at 9 a.m. taking the M6 north.

At junction 32 take the A6 exit to Preston/Garstang and at the roundabout take 3rd exit onto A6 James Towers Way.

Continue on A6 following signs to Garstang.

After approximately 5 miles you will pass Barton Grange Garden Centre on your left and shortly after turn right off the A6 onto New Lane (signposted Calder Vale).

Turn right at T junction onto Ducketts Lane, bear left onto May Lane and continue for about 2 miles to T junction.

Turn left onto Brock Mill Lane then right onto Bleasdale Lane. After a mile turn left onto Delph Lane and you will come to the Quarry car park on your left.
