The walk starts up a steady incline skirting the side of Buckden Pike, then crossing Cray Gill on the stepping stones. The walk continues along the contour line of the Fell to Yockenthwaite. Where we join the beautiful River Wharfe to Hubberholme and back to Buckden. A stick is recommended and walking shoes or boots of course. There are few stiles but plenty of gates to shut. This is a really pleasant walk, with views over the fells and great river scenery.

Toilets                                                                                                                                                      At Buckden Car Park. There is a pub at Hubberholme and another at Cray which also have facilities.

The White Lion at Cray and the Buck Inn at Buckden serve meals all day, for anyone who wants a full meal after the walk and of course a drink afterwards.

Hubberholme                                                                                                                                      The hamlet of Hubberholme is described by J.B.Priestley (1894-1984) as the smallest and pleasantest place in the world. He chose it to be his final resting place. It sits astride the river joined by an ancient bridge. The Church, quite small, is still in use and we took the opportunity to see inside. Pews are made by the Mouseman, Robert Thompson of Kilburn, and there is a wooden alter screen reputed to be many centuries old.
