Description of the Walk Grade B

The walk is a circular walk running anti clockwise starting and finishing in Barley. lt should take 3 to 4 hours and is approximately 5 miles in length and is a very scenic route and well worth the steady climbs.

The walk starts with a gentle climb out of the village on a single track road leading to Upper and Lower Black Moss Reservoirs which provides water to Nelson. The walk crosses fields and through various farm yards.

At roughly midpoint of the walk we do a gentle climb, the path leads to the top of Pendle Hill but we turn to the left and follow a contour at the base of the hill. The increase in elevation gives us a view right across from where we started.

Dropping down into Barley we pass the Lower Ogden Reservoir to the west of Barley which also provides water to Nelson.
