The Walk
The walk is an easy 6 miles walk, with some road walking on country lanes, fields paths and coastal paths, Glasson Dock is an interesting little village in the Morecambe Bay area which has a curious mix of leisure resort and working dock. The harbour at Glasson opened in 1787 to replace the dock at Lancaster and was at its height, the largest port in the north west. It can be muddy in short stretches if we have had rain, care must also be taken on the country lanes. Boots and sticks are recommended and you are responsible for your own safety.
There are public toilets (40P) at the beginning of the walk, also there is a snack van where you can buy food, hot and cold drinks, if you so wish, but do consider the timings for these to be drunk and eaten before the start of the walk. We will also have a drink and lunch stop along the way.
For those wishing to have a meal after the walk at the Dalton Arms in Glasson, a pre-menu is required, and a menu is attached to these walk details. PLEASE BRING THEM TO THE MEETING ON 22ND APRIL 2025 OR EMAIL / TEXT YOUR CHOICES. ALL MENUS ARE TO BE RECEIVED BY 30TH APRIL 2025.
